How I Felt Hopping On To My Very First Time Cruising

Even with just a drizzle of thought about embarking on a floating resort by fair means petrifies me. I could not digest the image of being in a huge watercraft floating on a surface of an overwhelmingly large expanse of sea with no land or mountains to be seen from the horizon. The feeling of being in the middle of an open ocean just panics me. We are not promised of tomorrow, we just have to be grateful of what we have today. Thus, the not knowing part awfully frightens me but lures me too!

The very hour has finally come for me to discernibly experience what it’s like to hop in a floating town. It was mystically intriguing and anxiously thrilling at the same time. While we were walking towards the ship’s entryway, feeling like towards my doom, my blood ran cold and I got a little scared stiff. I was still terrified, but the instant I strode inside with all those hotel-designed atrium, colorfully arrayed bright lounge chairs, and the enthusiasm of the people’s aura emanated like it was also their first time, somehow, salvaged my composure. I knew we will be all right.

The sun was still at noon high and our rooms weren’t set yet, so we hungrily headed straight to their common dining spot. I would assert it was just too overcrowded. I got drowned with starving people hunting for tables and seats yet everywhere in the restaurant was frustratingly full. At least, I could see and I could swear I heard people who were like birds chirping and primed to devour succulent worms that I’ve felt lost and forgotten about being in a huge craft.

As the ship began to glide slowly away from the land starting our voyage, I felt oddly thrilled. I was smacking my lips feeling so excited that I can go anywhere with bells on. Felt peculiarly impatient to unfold the on-board activities like a real eager beaver champing at the bit. I was paradoxically hopeless to go back and hopeful to have a blast!

The first night was an enchantment. Well, we were in the Enchantment of The Sea Royal Caribbean line. (Hoping so) Wink* We settled in our room and I got all dolled up prepped to go to our ever first specialty dining. These were all pleasantly strange to me. The idea of drifting above water while we were in this ocean greyhound or floating hotel gave me the unforgettable sentiment of fascination towards relishing fretful yet delightful feat. I intermittently had the nagging feeling that I was also floating in danger. But, I’ve forgotten all about it the moment we marched inside that fine dining restaurant. The smell of the air was fumed with sweet innocent voyagers. Loud laughters and chatters filled the room. They seem to have forgotten where we were, like oblivious of the surrounding. The ocean is unpredictable. At least that kept reminding me like having a bee in my bonnet. But it was hushed with all the taste of that carefree-flavored atmosphere. Plus, how delectable the food was.

After that sweet substantial meal (click here for the post), we were eagerly hopping towards what activities to delve into. There were numerous entertainment we wanted to watch and join but was still on the fence at the time. What we finally have resolved was to attend to a comedy show. So we did! To our delight, we witnessed the show but to our dismay as well, we attended the final 2 lines of the comedian’s jest, then it was concluded. This happened to us in two successive nights. Boohoo to us!

The second day of our cruise, we had the day excursion. (Link here for our CocoCay adventure). The excursion was exhausting but fun nevertheless. On the 3rd day which was the highlight of this high sea adventure, link here to read our adventure on Pearl Island. The last day was cruising back. This was very exciting because we would be in the open sea for the full 24 hours steering back home.

The last diurnal course sailing in this high sea travel was like a deja vu to me once more. I didn’t know if I would be bouncing off the walls or it would give me heebie-jeebies. From Port Canaveral to CocoCay, it was only 13 hrs span sailing. From CocoCay to Nassau another 15. This time, it will be more than a whole day being adrift navigating back. But, I wasn’t at my wits’ end not in tuned on what to achieve. I would fight tooth and nail just to have a blast on this vacation. I tasted their scrumptious choices of cuisine with most of their dining options. I could claim that my husband and I had a pleasant experience on the gastronomic detail. They had myriads of delectable food to pick from their specialty dining which I recommend personally. Entertainment-wise we did have fun! Had varied choices of amusement where they made sure everyone gets involved into something. Went to see their karaoke and got drenched with people’s chuffed to bits mood. We went to join their games and had a good laugh with people who joined that event. Went to witness their Hairspray Broadway-like show and loved it! Over all, being in this kind of adventure might have given me jitters in spite having a spectacular forecast, but I have to hedge my bets because I really had a good time in this type of new for me escapade.
