Located within the Jorgensen Plaza and Western Home Communities, this restaurant prides itself in offering amazing culinary creations while incorporating the freshest farm-grown ingredients from local farms surrounding the area.
Award winning Iowa-native Chef Brice Dix takes center stage as he takes on the challenge of transforming the restaurant’s vision into tangible reality with the amalgamation of his world class techniques, his exemplary passion for excellence, and locally grown ingredients for a truly intimate dining experience that is inherently unique to the Cedar Valley locale.
It was Saturday and the noon day sun was past its peak when we got there in time for the lunch service which concluded at 2pm. We were greeted personally by Table 1912’s general manager and certified sommelier Meena Reisetter, who was every bit welcoming to us as she shared a brief debut of the establishment.
Designated as a dining venue where families and friends gather, it is imperative that the lunch menu involves selections that satiate varied taste preferences. From luscious farm fresh green salads topped with grilled chicken or smoked salmon, to gourmet sandwiches and. pasta options topped with seared sea scallops or blackened chicken, there is a handful of enticing menu items to choose from.
Few moments passed, and Chef Brice came out with our crab cake appetizers topped with red amaranth and pea shoots, and spicy aioli on the side. First bite was delicious. They were seasoned beautifully with the perfect balance of flavor and subtle heat. The red amaranth and pea shoots added a refreshing crunch that complemented well with the overall texture of the dish.
Now for the main course. My wife and I both love pasta, so we decided to sample both their pasta entrees. The scallops came out perfectly seared, lightly seasoned with salt and black pepper. The slight acidity of the cherry tomatoes complemented beautifully with the rich garlic cream sauce over al dente cavatappi noodles. The blackened chicken in creamy alfredo sauce came out a bit dry but still tender and quite delectable. The dish was beautifully seasoned with a blend of spices that imbues a subtle heat without compromising the natural flavor of the bird.
Table 1912 offers superb culinary creations in an openly relaxing atmosphere that is conducive to a conversational meal with family and friends. The service was exceptional and quite welcoming. Definitely a must try gastronomic destination for anyone with an appreciation for fresh local ingredients and that farm-to-table appeal that is truly unique to the Cedar Valley.
