Mediterranean and Caribbean destinations are two of the most sought after tourist escapade goals. These beautiful destinations have its own alluring reasons why we yearn to visit these popular regions. Both have stunning beaches. In the Caribbean, they have coral sands and tropical coconut palms that can't be spotted in Europe. When it comes to the Mediterranean, they drew heavily on the style of palaces, Venetian gothic structures and seaside villas that are not commonly perceived in the Caribbean. But, there's one unmissable resort here in the Dominican Republic that I could say you could have a taste of both. Let me reveal it to you.
July is a peak month of sun-drenched summer and while I was still having a little Euro high after months of visiting Paris, Belgium and Luxembourg, it’s time for a summer vacation. We visited Europe April of 2018. Three months after, I can still find myself enchantedly daydreaming its architectures, cityscapes and gothic style layouts. I told myself that I want to discover the same dreamy atmosphere in the Caribbean but was crossing my fingers. Then, while I was scouring through Caribbean packages on the internet, I unmindfully scanned this distinct notable resort, the Alsol Luxury Village in Punta Cana.
The first time I laid my eyes on those charming spots on the screen of my lappy, I knew I want to set my feet on those grounds, breathe its fresh air and essentially stand in awe as I gaze and savor the place. Alsol Luxury Village is a resort with Mediterranean-approached building structures with details such as low pitched gabble or hipped roof, carved doors, arched windows/openings, exterior finished in stucco and are characteristically designed like a small village with sizable villa style suites. It also has a breath taking marina that you’d like to wake up early sunup to leisurely dawdle by their harbor boardwalk, and just take in the spectacular view that will give you a glimpse of Greece. Of course, this resort is in the Caribbean so these slender-stemmed single-trunk palm trees that evoke tropical appeal are seen everywhere. You’ll never complete your beach vacation without the beach itself. This resort has a sister resort situated side by side called the Alsol Tiara Beach Resort. It only has a shared small beach. But don’t fret beach lovers for you can go to Api or Juanillo Beach through their complimentary daily shuttle service! You can also book a thrilling excursion to Marinarium and swim with sharks (they’re juvenile sharks anyways) and stingrays. They also provide several other activities rendered from their list of Punta Cana excursions.
Now talking about delectable foods! Every day, every night they have varieties of gourmet cuisine may it be Mediterranean, Italian or Asian which are opened for you to choose from. Huge selection buffet to ala carte menu items that will satiate those preferred culinary hankerings. Oh and drinks! You got to try Mama Juana rum especially if they have chocolate Mama Juana. It’s a mixture of herb, red wine, honey and with a taste of chocolate! They also introduced us to Coco Loco. It’s a cocktail mixed with rum, tequila, vodka, lime juice, coconut cream, coconut water and ice cubes. That’s why it just tasted sensational! Unquestionably, the killer summer cocktail and it’s our favorite!
After all these fantabulous experiences, I could honestly say I really had a grand summer getaway on this Mediterranean in the tropical Caribbean resort. I didn’t think I could have both, but I did! This place will always be etched in my mind and in my heart as memories I won’t soon forget.
